End of term 3
Another very busy term but very rewarding as all my children have made huge gains in their learning - literacy and numeracy. I have been challenged with the behaviour of one child and with support from
collegues I are continually reflecting and trying new strategies with him. On watching the video on Restorative practices by Kay Hutchinson it has reminded me about the conversations that i do have with this child and all children re the impact of their behaviours and the importance of making quality time for these conversations to happen. This can be a new goal for me in term 4.

This year I am intending to reflect on personal e-learning more frequently, this is my goal for the year, hence this comment today.
This does include Room 5's Blog - reflecting and sharing on my children's learning regularly, as this is a wonderful way to connect and share with our families, wider community and worldwide.
So, watch this space!!!

My refection on Restorative Practices: I found the sessions very interesting especially looking at the " 4 windows," and thinking about my family. At school I am using the simple prompts in the playground and also in classroom context. The big shift for me is allowing more wait time and knowing when to begin dialogue between the children involved in incidents. Sometimes children need quite some time to cool down before you could ever think to begin restorative practices. On all occassions that i have used a form of these practices it has been very successful. Kia ora for this PD!

new learning this term
On relection about my new learning this term, all I can say is that our children are such fast learners and quickly pick up new skills and are able to share these with their peers and adults. I realise that I need plenty of practise when presented with new technology before mastery is gained. So I have decided that little steps for me in my learning and that I will get there eventually. reflections
Kia ora
I''ve had time to reflect about ICT and my efforts at blogging. I"ve tried posting comments and flips, but realise that I need to practice more often as I forget processes very quickly ( this is not an age thing!) I need real authentic purposes so I am really looking forward to creating a class blog for my new Room 5 learners. This will be the motivation that I need to get on with it , so watch this space......
